Where you get a natural high

Nathalie Tomada - The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines - Manila’s got countless new clubs and bars, but this fresh entrant in the Philippine nightlife is quickly making a name for itself.

Seventh High, found at the heart of the pulsating locale of The Fort in Taguig City, was formally launched in March only, but international acts that came swinging by the country recently, held court here. Apl.de.Ap of Black Eyed Peas, America’s Best Dance Crew winner Poreotics, Legaci, and Bruno Mars were some of the big names who experienced Seventh High.

Seventh High also stands out for its triumvirate of inner dives to suit whatever your preference is for an unforgettable night-out.

Red-hot nightspot Seventh High at Bonifacio High Street in Global City, Taguig has three venues

There’s The Club for the nightprowlers who want to hit the dancefloor, with spirited party music courtesy from local and international headliners. There’s The Lounge for those who want to sit back, dine and chill to acoustic sounds and light rhythms. The Club Room, on the other hand, affords guests exclusivity and intimacy with its decadent interiors and personalized concierge service.

This boutique club, as Seventh High is being dubbed, is the brainchild of the 23-year-old, boyish-looking entrepreneur Jose Haresco. Educated at the University of Toronto with a double degree in Economics and Literature, Jose, who grew up in the Philippines and who has Ilonggo roots, says about his first business venture, “Three amazing venues in one location —- that’s our greatest selling point. We’re also an establishment that puts premium on experience rather than size.”

He is also undaunted by the prevalent fact that the lifespan of establishments such as Seventh High is limited.

“It’s a risk, but it’s fun and rewarding. That’s the main challenge  how to capitalize short-term events like concerts, to continuously bring in these international talents, and generally, to sustain a good impression.”

VIP exclusivity at The Club Room

With this haunt’s every intention to attract as many market segments as possible, Jose says they also want to evoke a wholesome vibe. Asked how are they going to ensure that, he says, “I’m there every night. If we catch, say guests with drugs, we eject and ban them. Don’t do drugs in my place out of respect for the other guests.”

He says that at Seventh High, you’ll get a natural high. “We don’t want to get into any trouble, we don’t want to acquire a bad image, we want to be known for our talents, our dining and our experience.”

He continues, “That’s why every week we come up with new ideas to improve our programming because if you sit still, you will be left behind. You have to be always one step ahead.”

Take for example, a couple of weeks ago, Seventh High played host to an avante garde visiting theater company from Singapore, that used the existing architecture of the club to execute different parts of its play. Such diversity in entertainment offerings is what will set them apart, he says.

The Lounge features a restaurant

Having raised the bar in its only initial stages of operations, are we expecting more buzz-worthy events in the next months to come?

“Don’t expect anything, expect everything!” Jose excitedly ends.
