Osama Bin Laden specials on History

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - With the ever-elusive hunt for the one of the world’s most wanted criminal masterminds and terrorists coming to an end, History presents three consecutive TV specials on the mysterious man, who has managed to stay out of the radar for years: Osama Bin Laden.

Premiering tomorrow, May 13 at 9 p.m. (with replays on May 15, 8 p.m.; May 18, 9 p.m.; and May 22 May, 10 a.m.), 10 Ways to Kill Bin Laden trains the spotlight on the most compelling search-and-destroy missions conducted by both the CIA and FBI in search of Bin Laden. Then, at 11 p.m., History’s Hot Spots: Osama’s Hideouts provides a fascinating insider’s look at how the world’s most elusive terrorist has managed to stay one step ahead and creatively remain hidden for over 25 years.

On May 14, 12 a.m., Shootout!: Hunt for Osama Bin Laden chronicles the journey of American veterans whose combat stories on the war in Afghanistan reflect the continuing battle with Al Qaeda and the Taliban regime. Marine Gunnery Sergeant William Bodette relives how he survived three enemy ambushes in just a month, while Sergeant Jason Thompson narrates his own experience of a shootout on an Afghanistan hillside, which left him gravely wounded and had him taking the life of a young Marine under his command.

Breathtaking and visually compelling, the special also features the stories of three National Guardsmen as they, once upon a time, mapped out their planned rescue of two Special Force snipers who were pinned down by Al Qaeda gunmen.

Clearly, in Afghanistan, these soldiers’ mantra is plain and simple: to kill, or be killed. With the eye-opening series, History offers a bold glimpse of an ancient battlefield where countless lives have been taken in a war that continues to be waged up until today.
