MANILA, Philippines - The first Kapuso Foundation Celebrity Ukay-Ukay dubbed The Heatwave Summer Bazaar organized by Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez at the World Trade Center last April 15 to 17, was a resounding success.

People from all walks of life flocked to the venue to witness the event and most especially buy the discounted bags, shoes and other stuff of participating celebrities in the bazaar, knowing this was for a good cause.

GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) in partnership with Ogie and Regine invited their celebrity friends to donate their pre-owned belongings including Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, Chris Tiu, Solenn Heussaff, Rhian Ramos, La Diva’s Aicelle Santos, Maricris Garcia and Jonalyn Viray.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mel Tiangco and Mike Enriquez, Mayose Gozon-Bautista, Jolina Magdangal, Julie Ann San Jose, Ryza Cenon and Rita Iringan.

Regine couldn’t make it to the event because she needed to rest upon the advice of her doctor.

In a light moment, Mel teased Ogie that he should also donate the shirt that he was wearing. Ogie pretended to take off his shirt to the delight of screaming fans.

Proceeds from the event will be used by the GMAKF to build school buildings all over the country via the Kapuso School Development (KSD) project. KSD is a school-based program which aims to foster integral education by providing students of underprivileged public schools with decent and functional classrooms which are conducive for learning.
