Run, Kapuso, run

MANILA, Philippines - Richard Gutierrez, star of GMA 7’s Captain Barbell, recently led the Kapuso Fun Run at the Seaside of the SM Mall of Asia to benefit the Kapuso Foundation’s environmental projects.

The run billed as All-Star Kapuso Run with Richard Gutierrez is aimed at promoting environmental awareness and preservation.

The event is GMA Network’s pioneering wellness project that will cater to the cause of the GMA Kapuso Foundation’s (GMAKF) Kapuso para sa Kalikasan projects. These include construction of waterm distribution and sanitation facilities as well as tree planting in public schools nationwide.

The event convened almost 5,000 runners who joined the 3K, 5K, and 10K races. Richard hosted the opening and closing ceremonies with Iza Calzado. Both fitness buffs joined and finished the 5K-race.

Richard who already hosted environmental specials titled Signos: Banta ng Nagbabagong Klima and Anatomy of a Disaster on GMA extends his

personal advocacy from television to this significant on-ground event.

After imparting generous discussions and timely information through his program specials, he added another dimension to his advocacy through action.

“I feel honored for the distinction I am given in this event. We did the run in time for the Earth month this April with the hope of raising the public’s awareness and consciousness of the impact they have on the environment,” he said.

Iza said, “I thank those who took the time to join the run to protect all we have in the environment.”

Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown castaway Elma Muros led the exercise routine. Other Kapuso stars who joined the run were Aljur Abrenica, TJ Trinidad, Michelle Madrigal, Paolo Paraiso, Bubbles Paraiso, Ehra Madrigal, Akihiro Sato, JC Tiuseco, Mikael Daez, Mike Tan, Alden Richards, Jace Flores, Sheena Halili, Gino dela Peña, Dominic Roco, Ian Batherson, Daniel Matsunaga, Fabio Ide, Mikael Daez, Ervic Vejandre, Kara David, Ivan Mayrina, Nelson Canlas, Lhar Santiago, Aubrey Carampel, Raffy Tima, Mariz Umali and Lei Alviz.
