Boracay lit up by stars
BORACAY, Philippines — Night time is when the famous island-paradise of Boracay comes alive and last April 2, it became more lively when Cinema One treated guests to a special outdoor screening of last year’s sleeper hit Here Comes The Bride.
The film, directed by Chris Martinez, was produced by Star Cinema, OctoArts and Quantum Films. It stars John “Sweet” Lapus, Eugene Domingo, Angelica Panganiban, Jaime Fabregas, Tuesday Vargas and Tom Rodriguez. The movie tells the story of the five protagonists who swapped bodies and their journey toward the crazy finale.
It was a fun night at White House Boracay Beach Front at Station 1 where VIPs and other guests were relaxing and chilling out while overflowing food and drinks were served during the movie and throughout the party.
John and Happy Yipee Yehey! co-host Bianca Manalo hosted the beach party and brought the house down with their jokes and witty repartee. Spotted in the audience were Cinema One channel head Ronald Arguelles, Buhawi Jack stars Jason Abalos and Jewel Mische; Nasaan Ka Elisa? star Melissa Ricks; Bangs Garcia; TV Patrol World star patroller Gretchen Fullido, ABS-CBN Corporate Communication manager Kathy Solis, Brazilian model Renan Evangelista,
Cinema One Win a Trip to Boracay contest winners Jonathan Nicolas and Charaisah Ramones.
There was also a Fire Dance number, followed by games which includes an acting contest wherein participants were asked to act out scenes from the movie.
Before they ended the show, Bianca announced to a surprised John that he won the Best Actor in a Leading Role-Musical or Comedy at the Golden Screen Awards which was going on while the Boracay event was happening. The awards night was held at Teatrino, Greenhills. Thus, he pretended to be teary-eyed and elicited more laughter from the crowd. “Thank you sa Golden Screen Awards, sa Star Magic, dahil sa mga komedyanteng tulad ko eh nabibigyan ng chance. May acting award na ko, ‘di na ko starlet,” John said.
Cinema One Beach Screening was presented by Coca-Cola, The Bar, Argentina Corned Beef Lite, Enervon, Myra Vitafirm Firming Lotion and Swish.
(Kapamilya Fiesta shirts, ABS-CBN Regional Network Group’s own brand of festival-inspired apparel are now available at Kultura Filipino and Fiesta Favorite boutiques in the VisMin area, and at Robinsons Department Stores in Bacolod, Cebu, Tacloban and Dumaguete.)
