Marvin Ong at Music Museum

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Marvin Ong…Beginnings will be staged by Viva Concerts and MW Music Production, at the Music Museum tomorrow, April 2, at 8 p.m. for the benefit of Lingkod ng Potrero Foundation, Inc.

Featured guests in the concert for the youth are Rachelle Ann Go and Pop Girls; with Maricris Delgado as director, Soc Mina as musical director and Donald Balbuena as choreographer.

People are amazed how Marvin (photo) switched from an award-winning stage musical artist to hitmaking pop singer. As the singer/actor always points out, “There was never a transition. I have always been a pop performer who appears in stage musicals.”

Since he started singing at the tender age of nine, Marvin has been featured in successful live pop concerts here and abroad. He was also that young when he started essaying lead roles in musicals.

Those who have followed his musical career were not surprised at all when Marvin’s self-titled album, released by Viva Records, received a gold certification. The CD has already spawned two hits, including the current favorite, Harana.

Marvin also recorded a duet with Maffy Soler, Init Sa Magdamag, which is now the theme of TV5’s new dramaserye, Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak.

Among the repertoire in his first major live concert are the OPM medley, selections from his gold album and selected Broadway hits.

(Tickets at P1,000, P500 and P300 are now available. Call 361-9924, 721-6726, 0932-539993, 0918-4388844 and 0917-8122859 for particulars.)
