Kapamilya Karavan at Araw ng Dabaw
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Our flight from Manila was full of passengers eager to attend the Araw ng Dabaw festivities. Marco Polo Hotel was buzzing with guests because Kapamilya Karavan was in town to make this fun-filled weekend more colorful. ABS-CBN Regional Network Group (RNG) flew in the cast of Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin: Coco Martin and Maja Salvador, with Ron Morales and Erik Santos.
In an exclusive coverage with ABS-CBN corporate communication manager Kathy Solis, we witnessed how security personnel stood ready to protect thousands of men, women and children from overeager fans who might forcibly break the barriers to get a glimpse of their favorite stars at SM City Davao Parking Lot.
Everyone screamed when Erik performed OPM songs. The crowd got a closer look at the Prince of Pop when he went down the stage. Ron serenaded the audience. He elicited shrieks when he threw his shirt to the crowd.
“Grabe ang crowd, sobrang saya nila, kaya ginawa ko yung request nila na maghubad ako ng shirt,” Ron shared after the show.
It was the guys’ turn to stare when Maja took centerstage. Maja teasingly asked a guy from the audience to come up on stage and serenaded him with the song Baby.
Ladies broke out into screams when Coco ascended the stage while singing Ligaya and Minsan Lang Kita Iibigan. The screams became deafening and the barriers separating the crowd from the front part of the stage threatened to give way.
The cast expressed gratitude for the support they received in Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin’s successful premiere last March 7. The show obtained a record-high of 37.8 percent. It topped the list of the most-watched programs nationwide according to Kantar Media/TNS. The onscreen sweethearts sealed their duet of Dahil Ikaw with a kiss.
ABS-CBN Davao talents Nadia Shami (MagTV Na, Sadya Ta, Sunday at 8:45 to 9:30 a.m.), EJ Ortiz (Maayong Buntag Mindanao, Monday to Friday, 6:15 to 7 a.m.), Redge Ledesma (Kapamilya Mas Winner Ka!, Saturday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.), Lady Bambam, JV Navales and Ian Garcia (MagTV Na, Sadya Ta, Sunday, 8:45 to 9:30 a.m.) hosted the show.
