Work is the best therapy for Sarah
Problem (love) child
Curtain-raisers:
• An actor-politician is having a problem with his love son with an actress who has been living abroad. The conflict has something to do with the boy’s entry into showbiz with the full consent of his mom but much to the disapproval of his dad who wants the boy to concentrate on his studies.
The boy has been staying with his father and his stepmom (also an actress) who treats him like her own son. Like his father, the boy easily attracts girls and he now has a girlfriend. He’s into his mid-teens.
The issue? Well, the boy’s biological mom is back and has signed a contract with a network on behalf of her son without informing the boy’s father. Since his mom’s arrival, the boy has been staying with her and goes home to his dad and stepmom only occasionally.
Here’s the rub: The boy’s mom is asking his dad for a gift and guess what it is — a condo unit, no less!
Of course, the dad can afford it but won’t it further spoil the boy?
Coming soon: A legal tug-of-war between the boy’s parents (while the stepmom will watch helpless)?
• A singer-actress separated from her husband (more of a radio/TV person than a movie actor) can’t publicly identify her new love and she better not. You see, the man holds a sensitive position in the US so he keeps his identity highly confidential. Everytime she is asked about him, the singer-actress becomes evasive and only says that, yes, “My new boyfriend is an American.” But lately, she has been quiet about her love life which is very unusual. Could it be possible that she has broken up with him?
• ABS-CBN Manila Radio Division head Peter Musngi (photo) is again invited to be part of the grand jury of the New York Festivals Radio Program and Promotion Awards. The only judge from the Philippines, he will join other radio experts from around the world who will judge entries from international radio stations, networks and independent producers. The event will be held in New York City on June 20.

In the wake of the lingering controversy generated by her disturbing revelations on Yes! magazine about her “first real heartbreak,” no thanks to first boyfriend Rayver Cruz (now going steady with Cristine Reyes), Sarah Geronimo has been avoiding the media, perhaps careful not to spill more beans (if there are some left, that is).
In fact, no presscon has so far been called for Catch Me I’m In Love, co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films, which marks Sarah’s first team-up with Gerald Anderson (who faced a handful of movie writers recently not for the movie but in connection with his recent birthday).
Funfare just got a copy of a transcription of an interview with Sarah and Gerald who obviously made it a point not to touch on any sensitive ground, especially not Sarah’s painful break-up with Rayver.
In the movie written by Mel del Rosario and directed by Mae Cruz, Sarah plays an NGO worker and Gerald, a “presidential son.” It’s a rich-boy-meets-middle/class-girl romcom right along Sarah’s alley who is well-loved in such roles she has played with the likes of John Lloyd Cruz and, yes, Rayver Cruz. Oops! Sarah seems to be getting stuck on the Cruzes, in case you haven’t noticed.
The two said that they found the movie different from their previous ones because this time they shot mostly in the countryside (they even soaked each other in the mud), unlike in their other movies which were done largely inside glossy sets.
Asked what his ideal girl is, Gerald said, “Simple, mabait, maganda at masarap kasama.”
What about Sarah?
“Sana may hawig siya kay Papa,” she said.
Hi, Rayver! Are you listening?
Catch Me I’m In Love also stars Christopher de Leon, Dawn Zulueta, Joey Marquez, Arlene Muhlach, Ketchup Eusebio, Alcriz Galura and Dino Imperial, with Matteo Guidicelli being introduced.
Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?
I just came across this interesting item in the latest issue of Reader’s Digest and it should put to rest the riddle that has baffled generations. Here it is:
And the winner is…the chicken!
It’s a riddle that’s confounded the best of us: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Wonder no more. Researchers at the Universities of Sheffield and Warwick in the UK have found that a protein called ovocledidin-17 (OC-17) is responsible for producing eggshells --- and is found only in a chicken’s ovaries.
The team, headed by Professor John Harding of the University of Sheffield’s Department of Engineering Materials, used the UK national supercomputer in Edinburgh to learn how the protein triggers the process. The OC-17 protein attaches top calcium carbonate particles to set off crystal formation. The protein drops off once the crystal nucleus is large enough to grow under its own steam and the OC-17 then gets busy, culminating in the overnight creation of an eggshell.
Which just leaves that other pressing question: Exactly why did the chicken cross the road?
