Ronnie not a quitter

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - For Ronnie Ricketts, the word “quit” is not in his vocabulary especially in things that he chooses to accomplish. He believes that in order to see the fruits of his hard work, he should refuse to quit. That’s exactly what he did during the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) last December.

He showed once again his commitment and love for the movie industry. Chairman Ronnie and the rest of the Optical Media Board staff did not give up but worked doubly hard once again to keep the MMFF free from piracy. They didn’t go on a holiday. They were on guard the whole time. Hard work for these people indeed paid off.

Ronnie believes in teamwork because he knows he cannot do it alone. He needs the help of the OMB staff and other government agencies.

“We did better this time! Producers are happy with the results of the MMFF,” says Ronnie.

He is also happy that the producers are recognizing him and his staff’s efforts. The overwhelming box-office success of the 2010 MMFF, which earned more than P530M has inspired Ronnie to perform his duties with more dedication and sincerity.

Ronnie’s energies never wane. Aside from the OMB’s daily operations, he goes around Metro Manila and the provinces for anti-piracy campaigns. His company is now coordinating with barangay captains of different localities to do their own campaign.

He also teaches martial arts every Monday and leads the Running Club every Thursday for his staff and employees. And he still finds time to teach bakbakan to fellow martial artists.

Ronnie is grateful for the support of his wife Mariz and their children. He admits they motivate him to work hard.

He recently conducted an information campaign against piracy in government agencies, colleges and universities with emphasis on promoting intellectual property rights.

Ronnie is open to being interviewed on piracy by students from various schools. He visited different learning institutions for his anti-piracy campaign.
