It's a boy for Krista & Niño!

Now, here’s something interesting: Take the last two digits of your birthday plus your age this year. The sum is 111. For example, if your birth year is 1945, you will be turning 66 this year. Add 45 and 66 and you get 111. The equation applies to all birthdays. Try it.

God bless. (Note: Gil said that he cried when he quoted this Irish saying in his speech during the wedding of his and wife Telly’s son Carlo. He also forwarded it to Marilou Diaz-Abaya who is currently going through “the sufferings of Jesus.”)

• And another one from Manny Valera: Who should be blamed when a leaf falls from a tree? Is it the wind that blew it away or the tree that let it go? Or the leaf itself which never held tight?

It’s confirmed: The first child of Krista Ranillo and husband Niño Jefferson Lim is a boy as shown by the ultrasound Krista recently had.

“I’m into my 30th week of pregnancy,” Krista told Funfare Update in a text message.

According to my friend OB-GYNE, the full term is 39 to 40 weeks, so that means Krista will give birth 3rd of April which is also her and Niño’s birth month.

“God willing,” added Krista, “it will be a normal delivery. I’m doing hypnobirthing to prepare me and Niño, We hired a doula to help us with the childbirth.” (A “doula” is a woman experienced in childbirth who provides advice, information, emotional support and physical comfort to a mother before, during and just after childbirth.)

The couple was married at Jewish rites in July last year in Long Beach, California. They are based in L.A. They are putting off their plan to get married in Catholic rites in Manila this year.

Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos: If the price is right?

“Niño wants us to have another baby next year,” said Krista. “Suwerte daw kasi pag 2012, hehehehe, because it’s the year of the Dragon.”

Will Vilma be the next Kapatid?

First to sign up was Dolphy, followed by Maricel Soriano (how come she’s very scarce these days?) and then by several other big stars from other networks, the latest being Aga Muhlach who is now officially a Kapatid, having already signed up with TV5 which hasn’t stopped hiring in its aggressive effort to beef up its stable of talents, luring them with fat talent fees.

Susan Roces has agreed to star in a soap, Babaeng Hampaslupa for the Kapatid Network but her contract is non-exclusive. Susan said she’s an “indie actor.”

Don’t look now but Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos might become also a Kapatid any time now — that is, if the negotiations run right. Funfare Update’s VDPA (Very Deep Penetration Agent) reported that Vilma was spotted in a “serious” meeting with Kapatid big boss MVP (Manny V. Pangilinan) at a Rockwell restaurant recently. Knowing MVP, I’m sure he won’t stop until he pins down Vilma to an exclusive contract — if the price is right.

Liezl is the newest MTRCB member

It’s final: Liezl Martinez (photo) is now a member of MTRCB (Movies and Television Review and Classification Board). Her appointment was signed yesterday by Pres. Noynoy “P-Noy” Aquino.

Interesting, isn’t it?

The MTRCB chief, Grace Poe-Llamanzares, is the daughter of Susan Roces and Liezl is that of Amalia Fuentes. Susan and Amalia were pitted against each other by fans during their heyday at Sampaguita Pictures. How time flies! Now, their daughters are working hand in hand.

Amalia used to be an MTRCB member. As per the MTRCB rules, mother and daughter (or close kins) can’t be simultaneous members.

“Hindi kami puwede sabay,” said Liezl.
