The stars' memorable moments in 2010
It’s January 2011 and we just ushered in a new month and a new year. It is a brand-new beginning for all of us. It will be another long and arduous journey. What lies ahead, we don’t really know. We can only pray and hope for the best.
The month of January was named after the Roman god Janus. In Roman mythology, he is “the god of good beginnings.” He is the doorkeeper of heaven and the god of beginnings and endings. His statue has two faces, one on each side. His figure represents time because his faces can see both the past and the future. Janus symbolizes what happened in the old year while looking forward to the new one.
Just like Janus, the world of showbiz also has two faces: The crying masked face and the laughing one. The masks mirror both the happiness and the melancholia that happen in showbiz and in the lives of its denizens.
I asked some stars about the most memorable things that happened to them in 2010 and what they look forward to in 2011. Read on:
Amy Perez — 2010 was our family’s first Christmas in our new house that’s why we were very thankful and at the same time excited. Thank you Lord for all the blessings!
Hermes Bautista — The most memorable thing that happened to me last year was the life after the Big Brother experience. My life somehow changed unexpectedly. I’m hoping for a successful showbiz career in 2011 and in the coming years.
Laarni Lozada — I’m looking forward to a productive year as a singer. I want to share my music to a wider range of audience here and abroad.
Direk GB Sampedro — So many things happened in my life and career. I rolled with the punches, lived to the fullest and I’m moving on. I became part of the Kapatid Network. I look forward to doing more projects with TV5.
Sitti — I experienced my first real heartbreak last year. Hehe… Looking forward to my new album this year, more breakthroughs, more shows abroad.
Mariel Rodriguez — Marrying Robin (Padilla) was the best thing that happened to me in 2010. I’m looking forward to our movie in 2011.
Liz Uy — The best thing that happened to me in 2010 was finding myself.
Aiko Melendez — The best things that happened in 2010 were the learnings and acceptance of each failure. I’m looking forward to doing a teleserye. I claim it.
Erik Santos — I have wonderful memories about my career last year. I had A.S.A.P. XV and Star Power where I get the chance to work with Megastar Sharon Cuneta, an acting stint in Maalaala Mo Kaya, and sold-out concerts last February and September which I produced. I am also happy because my family is healthy. I hope this year, I have more projects. I am looking forward to a stage musical that I’m set to do, my US and European tour scheduled on the first quarter of 2011, and the success of my new album.
Kris Aquino — Noy’s victory, Dalaw’s box-office success, the fact that Bimby and Josh really love each other. I’m looking forward to loving again — this time until death.
Ai-Ai delas Alas — Of course, Tanging Ina became a blockbuster and I won the Best Actress award. I look forward to more movies and more sharing of myself and my blessings with everyone. I will also save, save for the future.
Let us look forward to a brighter and bigger 2011 with hopes for peace and prosperity for all. I hope more good things happen in showbiz. May the movie industry produce more quality films that will showcase the Filipino culture and the Filipino artistry. I hope the international music scene will open its doors to more Filipino artists. I pray that more Pinoys will be recognized on the global stage. Please no more disasters that could destroy millions of homes, communities, properties and life. Let us forgive and forget. Isn’t it liberating to start the new year free of anger? And it’s healthier to smile than to frown. It takes more facial muscles to frown than to smile. Try it and you’ll feel the difference.
And laugh, laugh, laugh. It’s excellent for the health. And love, love, love. It’s excellent for the soul and necessary for world peace.
Happy New Year!
