Star Power finalists to perform in My Story, My Song tonight

-

MANILA, Philippines - Tonight on ABS-CBN’s Star Power after Rated K, the remaining six (Jizelle Formilleza of Compostella Valley, Rose Ann Francisco of Batangas, Natasia Cunanan of Bulacan, K-la Rivera of Canada, Mia of Mandaluyong City and Monica Sacay of Leyte) from the 20 finalists will perform the stories of their lives in My Story, My Song.

Many admire Jizelle because of her passion for music. She is keen in playing several musical instruments. Jizelle, however, has low self-esteem, which she professed to have been caused by the underestimation and destructive comparison she experienced as a child. With the help of her loving family and boyfriend, she hopes to regain her lost confidence.

For business-minded Rose Ann, all opportunities that can raise profit must be grabbed. With her jeepney driver dad, homemaker mom, twin sister and five other siblings, Rose Ann strives hard to uplift her family. She shares that there was a time when she had to provide her siblings’ school supplies using the prize money she won from a singing contest.

At an early age, Natasia was traumatized by her parents’ separation. Both parents have found new partners. Natasia’s mom eventually separated from her new husband. Worst, she recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. With the glitz and glamour Star Power offers, Natasia hopes to help her mother.

Leaving Canada to join Star Power is a big gamble for K-la. Even if it will force her to leave her father and siblings, K-la is still eager to pursue her singing career. She is grateful to her mother who accompanied her while she was still in the country.

Getting accepted in the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston is Mia’s biggest achievement. She fell in love with music because she came from a musically-inclined family. Mia admitted she has to postpone her trip to the US to grab the opportunity of becoming the Next Female Pop Superstar.

It’s been years since Monica lost her parents. But until now, she’s grieving. It was her dad who died first. Then, her mother became very sick, prompting the young Monica to utilize  her singing talent to earn money. She performed in weddings, birthdays and wakes to provide medicine for her mom who eventually passed away. She had to resort to begging for alms. With Star Power, Monica believes she can move up.
