Life goes on for Cueshé
MANILA, Philippines - In life the only thing constant is change. For Cueshé (photo), it seems to be its mantra from the time everything changed for the group since breaking into mainstream scene in 2005. It started with its debut album Half Empty, Half Full which catapulted the band to stardom. With hits like Stay, Sorry, Ulan and 24 Hours, it went platinum and garnered awards.
It was followed-up by Back To Me and since then, the band has not stopped performing and churning out more popular singles like Back To Me, Borrowed Time, Pasensya Na and Walang Yamang (Mas Hihigit Sa ‘Yo).
Driven found Cueshé drifting into a little heavier sound but still found success with its radio hits BMD, There Was You and Minsan. Then the band slowed down for a few years.
But now, it is back to share its music again with the latest album Life. While its contemporaries may have either disbanded or changed members but Cueshé is still as solid as ever. It is still comprised of Jay Justiniani on vocals; Ruben Caballero, guitars/vocals; Jovan Mabini, guitars; Jhunjie Dosdos, keyboards; Fritz Labrado, bass; and Mike Manaloto, drums.
And its carrier single Pangako will prove just that. Now a certified radio hit, it was written by Jhunjie. Other members also had their share of writing duties for other tracks in the album like Tara na, Damage, Lupit, Still, Sana, Alone, Fade, Sweet Surrender, Breathe, Over Now and Now.
For this album, Cueshé goes back to the sound they have been known and loved.
“This fourth album is going back to basics, humbling ourselves and realizing that it all boils down to music. It’s not about the money and fame, but the fact that we’re still around despite our differences and the battles that we have fought.” We’ll still be here until the battle is won.” Life is now out in CDs under Sony Music.
