Star power in Star Magic sportsfest

MANILA, Philippines - It’s another Star Power event in the recent Star Magic Sports Festival held last Sept. 26, at Celebrity Sports Plaza.

All the stars were up as early as 6 a.m. and four participating teams (Blue, Green, Red and Yellow) were ready to compete for various games namely dodge ball, three-legged relay, patintero, badminton, volleyball and basketball.

The gorgeous leading ladies of Star Magic headed the parade. Shaina Magdayao and Maricar Reyes for the Blue Team, Kristine Hermosa and Bea Alonzo for the Red Team, Yellow Team muse were Jessy Mendiola and Melissa Ricks and Pia Romero for the Green Team.

Star Magic’s prime artist Piolo Pascual led the sportsmanship prayer while Noah co-star Zaijian Jaranilla led the sportsmanship oath with Momay lead Xyriel Manabat. The UP Pep Squad was introduced by host Drei Felix for an intermission number.

Gerald Anderson and Jose Sarasola beat Matteo Guidicelli, Drei Felix and Robi Domingo of Yellow Team in the Chevrolet Race. Third placer were Jommy Teotico, Marc Joseph and Markki Stroem of Green Team while Red Team of Martin del Rosario and Guji Lorenzana placed fourth.

There were Adults at Kids Division game for dodgeball, patintero, three-legged relay and 1k Fun Run. Star Magic kids Kobi Vidanes, Bugoy Cariño, Kyle Balili, Andrei Garca, Xyriel and PBB teen Ivan Dorschner and Enchong Dee won the dodge ball games in kids and adults division, respectively.

Kim Chiu was the star player for patintero, dodge ball, badminton and volleyball. She made her team won in patintero game over an all boys Green Team. Yellow Team of Goin’ Bulilit alumni Mikylla Ramirez, Yong An Chiu and Carl John Barameda won in the Kids Division. Green Team headed by Melai Cantiveros made it for first place in the three-legged relay while Enchong’s team won second. Zaijian bagged the first place in the Kids 1k Fun Run.

In the women’s volleyball game, Green Team bagged first place. Angelica Panganiban, Kim Chiu, Bangs Garcia, Paw Diaz, Rica Paras, Beauty Gonzales, Saicy Aguila, Cathy Remperas, Bettinna Carlos, Sitti Navarro at Jed Montero (Volleyball’s Most Valuable Player) were seen in their unusual sporty get up.

Former PBB Rica Paras and comedian Empoy of the Green Team won the Badminton Mix Division while Yellow Team of PR Man Keren Pascual and Eduardo Moks won the Badminton Men’s Division. Star Magic staff yellow team tandem Monch Novales and Kate Pepito made in the Womens’ Division.

The basketball game was as exciting like other professional basketball league. Star Magic Blue Team was headed by Captain Ball Gerald Anderson, Zanjoe Marudo, Diether Ocampo, Matt Evans, Rayver Cruz, Jacon Abalos, Joem Bascon, Xian Lim, Arron Villaflor, Fred Payawan, Jovit Baldivino and Ejay Falcon while Derek Ramsay, Jericho Rosales, Gab Valenciano and Christian Bautista played for the Red Team. Highest scorer in the game was Gerald Anderson who made his team won after two quarters.

The culminating event ended with the awarding ceremony. Kimerald (Kim and Gerald) were the most awarded athletes while Yellow Team was the over-all champion.

Present in the event were ABS-CBN bosses Cory Vidanes, Linggit Tan, March Ventosa, Mariole Alberto and Johnny Manahan.
