What pleases John Mayer
MANILA, Philippines - John Mayer relishes the little pleasures of being at home — things like home-cooked meals, his bed, and (believe it or not) vacuuming — none of which he gets to enjoy while going on tour.
These past couple of months, John has visited over 30 cities in Canada and the US for the Battle Studies Summer Tour, after his fourth and latest studio album of the same name. Though he and his crew have capped off this particular series of shows, John will not be going home just yet — because this October, it will be our turn.
After almost 10 years since he first invaded our airwaves with angst about running through the halls of his high school and screaming at the top of his lungs, the wait is finally over. Thousands of Filipinos will get to see and hear him play live for one night only on Oct. 1, 8 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the fans,” says John. “I do everything for my fans. I have also heard from other artists who have been there how great of an audience the Filipinos are.”
And it’s not just the show John has to look forward to. “I have also heard that there are great musicians out there, beautiful women and nice beaches,” he adds. “I am definitely very excited.”
The feeling is mutual. Even far exceeded, perhaps. Many of us have slaved and saved just to get tickets, and have been holding on to them for almost five months. The excitement is ripe. Question is, will John reward this long-drawn-out anticipation with a few surprises of his own?
“You’ll have to watch the show and find out,” he teases. He offers no other hints — today, the music will speak for itself.
The show is presented by Metrocardclub.com, Channel V and Fearless Productions in cooperation with McDonald’s, Happy Toothpaste, Music Management International, GMA 7, EDSA Shangri-La Manila, Fox, Star World, Magic 89.9, Wave, Jam, RT, The Philippine Star, The Manila Bulletin, Business World, Meg and Uno Magazine.
