Regal's White House shot in haunted mansion

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The imposing and beautiful White House in Baguio along Leonard Wood Road, has become one of the distinctive landmarks of the city. Built in the 1920s, the ancestral mansion was formerly owned by the Laperal family, one of the oldest clans in Baguio.

During World War II, most members of the family were reportedly brutally murdered in the house. Since then, the White House has remained uninhabited. Spirits or ghosts are said to abound inside.

In the middle of the night, there were reports that loud noises can be heard inside the house — from music to screams to baby crying or partying. Tourists who dared to explore the White House experience the eerie and the macabre.

The White House is now the backdrop of Regal’s upcoming horror thriller of the same title, set in the actual haunted mansion in Baguio City. The film blends a touch of reality TV show, with six stars playing contestants who live inside the White House to experience the ghosts for a chance to win P1-M.

Gabby Concepcion leads the stellar cast as the spirit questor who deals with the ghosts in the White House. Maricar Reyes is the scheming reality TV show producer, with Janus del Prado as her associate.

Iza Calzado plays the violent black lady out to seek vengeance for the death of her loved ones. Lovi Poe, Joem Bascon, Mo Twister, Megan Young, Jairus Aquino and Sarah Lahbati complete the cast as the TV contestants.

At the helm of White House is Topel Lee, who previously megged suspense thrillers like Ouija, Sundo and the Yaya and Madre episodes of Shake, Rattle and Roll. Aloy Adlawan led a team of young writers who actually stayed in the White House to complete the screenplay for the movie.

White House opens on Oct. 13.
