The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Mocha Uson, frontliner of Mocha Girls, recently initiated a fund-raising gig for her mom Dr. Estrellita Uson who is stricken with breast cancer, stage three.

The successful fundraiser gathered Mocha’s close friends in the live entertainment scene like Daiana Meneses, Grace Lee with Boys Night Out (Toni Tony, Slick Rick and Sam Y.G.) of Magic 89.9, Rufa Mi, Baby Belle, including top bands Callalily, 6Cyclemind, True Faith, Nyoy Volante with his Rhythmic Music band, South Border led by Jay Durias and Kris Lawrence.

The other two Mocha Girls Mae dela Cerna and Jhane Santaguiel with Mocha Dancers and the Ice Band also performed.

Mocha stressed the fact that the occasion also served as an awareness campaign for breast cancer, making  the Mocha Girls advocates themselves.

Mocha was recently chosen official spokesperson for breast cancer awareness by the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Inc. (PFBCI) based at East Ave. Medical Center, Quezon City. PFBCI is headed by Maria Lourdes Cortez and media coordinator Pearl Imperial with George Vail Kabristante.

As ambassadress of PFBCI, Mocha puts forward the face of the foundation in the  fight against breast cancer and treatment of the same and other breast-related diseases regardless of race, social status, religion, age and gender.

The Mocha Girls in all their sorties nationwide and even abroad now make it a part of their show to weave in their commitment to push for breast cancer awareness to the public and followers as well.

Mocha has a  regular segment in the noontime musical billed Hot Five on TV5’s Linggo Sa POV.
