AMP Big Band in concert
MANILA, Philippines - The Thirdline, Inc. announces the AMP Big Band in Concert will be held on Sept. 24 at the Music Museum in Greenhills.
The show will be the band’s first solo concert with Bituin Escalante, Skarlet and Baihana as guests.
The band, composed of instrumentalists and session musicians and with Mel Villena as leader, was conceived as an informal group who just wanted to jam and play its favorites, but now often ignored big band music. The band did it “for the love”, but it was a chance for the members to “let their hair down” and play to their hearts’ content. Soon, it became an advocacy — an avenue to educate the musician and audience on Big Band music.
Along the way, they gathered a following of appreciative listeners. Their music ranges from the ’30s to current hits, both OPM and American standards.
