Bukas Palad's songs for the Mass

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - In commemoration of its 24th anniversary, Bukas Palad Music Ministry offers its 15th album, CHRISTIFY, a collection of 10 new songs for liturgy and worship. Founded by Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ, Norman Agatep and Jandi Arboleda, the music ministry has influenced Filipino liturgical music by introducing Hindi Kita Malilimutan, Tanging Yaman, Sa ‘Yo Lamang, Humayo’t Ihayag and I Will Sing Forever. CHRISTIFY contains new hymns for different parts of the Mass.

The title track, Christify articulates the actions involved in the offertory. Praise The Lord Who Heals affirms how “the Lord consoles the grieving and heals their bitter pain.” The Lord upholds His promise to stay with us forever in Kailan Pa Man. Say The Word implores the Lord to speak His words of healing as we receive His body and blood in Holy Communion. Magpasalamat Sa Kanya gives thanks to the Lord for His salvation.

The album is accompanied by a songbook with choral arrangements and liturgical notes for all the songs. Bukas Palad will bring the songs of CHRISTIFY to parishes starting this month until November: Today it will be at the Saints Peter & Paul Parish, Sampiro de Makati; on Sept. 25, Nativity of Our Lady Parish, Olandes, Marikina; Oct. 2, Santa Rosario de Pasig Parish, Rosario, Pasig; Oct. 9, Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo Church); Oct. 16, Transfiguration of Christ Parish, Antipolo; Nov. 6, Christ the King Parish, Green Meadows, Q.C.; Nov. 13, SM Megamall Chapel of the Eucharistic Lord and Nov. 20,   Immaculate Conception Parish, Pasig.
