More playdates for The Princess & the Red Carp
MANILA, Philippines - A beautiful young girl, an evil stepmother, a handsome emperor, a magical fish and a pair of golden shoes. Sounds like the well-loved Cinderella with a twist?
It is. The story of The Princess and the Red Carp is actually a retelling of the original Cinderella tale. The Chinese version dates back to as far back as 850 to 860 AD and is the very first of its kind. And Theater Down South is delighted to present its spin on this beloved and enduring tale.
The show, which opened last Aug. 22 at the Insular Life Theater in Alabang, has succeeding playdates tomorrow, Aug. 29, Sept. 5, 12 and 19. The story is based on a book by Joonee Garcia and Michael Williams, who also directs the show.
