Music Museum names 11 scholars

MANILA, Philippines - Eleven teenagers emerged the best of the best in a field of over a hundred fellow teeners who joined Music Museum’s musical talent search for teenagers last summer at The Music School of Ryan Cayabyab.

Draizen Sanchezoor, Lorenzo Mendoza, Janina Gonzales, Momoko Arima, Meryl Lumboy, Rafael Gutierrez, Jose Angelo Gonzales, Marusha Boliche, Ruth Gomez, Francine Arcilla and Krysty Alde comprise the first batch of Music Museum music scholars for MUSIKabataan 2010, a talent search and music scholarship program for musically-gifted teenagers aged 13 to 17. MUSIKabataan is the teenage version of an earlier musical talent search for kids launched by the Music Museum Group called Musmusikwela, for eight to 12 year-olds.

The teeners are undergoing a 10-month, three-level course in music and performance under Ryan Cayabyab. Every Saturday, from June 2010 to March 2011 the scholars take dance and voice lessons and learn the art of projection and stage presence from Ryan and his staff.

The Music Museum Group, Inc. launched the music scholarship program in 2008 on MMGI’s 20th anniversary celebration as a way of giving back to the music and entertainment industry. MMG partnered with The Music School of Ryan Cayabyab to discover new talents who will, according to MMGI president Precy Florentino, provide an unending stream of gifted Filipino performers for the industry.

The music scholars will have their final recital in March next year.
