Youth Olympic Camp at Market! Market!

MANILA, Philippines - To create awareness of and in celebration of the first Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore from Aug. 14 to 26, SOLARtv has come up with the Youth Olympic Camp from Aug. 7 to 8.

The event will be held at the Market! Market! with an aim to promote SOLARtv as the official YOG channel.

Activities include sports clinics in basketball, badminton and taekwondo for two age groups (20 yrs. old and below), fun games for all mall visitors which include guess the number of products in a box and 30-seconds basketball shootout, and several fun-filled interactive games featuring the three highlighted sports.

Also showcased is a big Support Wall for our Pinoy athletes competing in the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, where mall-goers, participants and the public can write words of encouragement and support to our athletes participating in the YOG games slated for Aug. 14 to 26.

A lounge area with flat screens will also show inspirational and patriotic videos on the competing Pinoy athletes.

There will also be an area for sponsors to display their products and services, create interactive games related to any of the sports involved in the YOG and give away exciting prizes to winners (caps, T-shirts, keychains, etc.).

The Market! Market! happenings are intended to encourage the youth to get into sports and aspire to be part of the next Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China in 2014.

Over 3,600 athletes, 26 Olympic sports, 20 sports events and 800 officials are in this year’s line-up. The vision of the Youth Olympic Games is to inspire young people around the world to celebrate humanity through the power of sport. It also aims to inspire youth around the world to embrace, embody, and express the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
