Suy releases album
MANILA, Philippines - Her soothing voice might have caught your attention with her version of an Ariel Rivera classic, Simple Lang. You’re probably wondering who could be the voice behind this OPM hit. Well, she’s Ivory Music’s new acoustic find Suy (photo).
Suy entered the music scene in 2004 as one of the lead singers of the group Natural High. Their repertoire is a mix of different music genres like soul, R&B, pop and more. When the group disbanded, Suy began her solo career as a professional recording artist initially doing compilation albums for different record companies. She even did back-up vocals for some of the country’s established recording artists.
Her big break came when Suy, after doing a series of successful compilation albums (Unplugged Series) under Ivory Music was signed up for an exclusive recording contract. “I couldn’t believe everything that was happening, I only knew that I was not dreaming when I was actually signing the contract,” Suy said. “I couldn’t be any happier,” she added.
Ivory Music president Steven Tan says, “We really believe in Suy’s talent, that’s why we offered her our full support. We hope that people will like what we have put together for her new album. If they supported her in our Unplugged Series, they will like Simply Suy, even more.”
Simply Suy is a 15-track album showcasing Suy’s uncomplicated voice and soulful rendition. Some of the songs include Suy’s version of Gloria Estefan’s Words Get In the Way, Fra Lippo Lippi’s Later, Tiffany’s Could’ve Been, Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat’s Lucky (duet with Paolo Santos) and her version of Simple Lang, the sole Tagalog song in the album.
Simply Suy is available in your favorite record stores nationwide. Sponsors are Ian Felix Alquiros of theROOM, Cher Nogara of Benefits Style Salon, Victoria Jackson, Sundari and Fused.
