National Geographic co-produces The Bund

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - After producing Asia’s Titanic, a Filipino documentary on the sinking of the MV Doña Paz, National Geographic Channel (NGC) will make an international version of The Bund, a Chinese documentary that depicts the evolution and rising global influence of central Shanghai over the past century.

NGC will partner with Shanghai Media Group and Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio to create five high-definition (HD) episodes and a two-hour HD theatrical version of the documentary using original footage.

Like Asia’s Titanic, NGC will produce a new version of the Shanghai documentary using its hallmark production standards. It will also show The Bund to a wider audience through its broadcast network that reaches more than 330 million homes worldwide.

Aside from the HD episodes of The Bund, NGC viewers can also watch out for upcoming localized programs such as stories on high-profile personalities and other interesting topics such as the science of food.
