Sibling rivalry starts tonight

MANILA, Philippines - Get ready for the glamorous clash of stars starting tonight, as ABS-CBN brings Magkaribal, another first-of-its-kind drama, one of the most-ambitious projects to ramp its way on primetime. It stars 2010 Gawad Pasado Awards Best Actress, Bea Alonzo and 2009 Star Award’s Best Actress Gretchen Barretto. Derek Ramsay, Angel Aquino, Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales complete the cast.

Working together for the first time, Bea and Gretchen first were uneasy in portraying their roles as rivals. But because of their natural acting prowess, the two were able to adjust quickly to their new characters.

“What makes it more challenging is that it’s our first time to work together and magkaaway pa kami agad,” Gretchen shares.

She adds, “I must say that I have learned a lot from Bea. At a young age, she can level up to any kind of actor or actress. She’s really one of the best actresses na na-encounter ko.”

“It’s so nice to be back sa primetime. When I heard about the project, I can’t help but get excited. Panibagong family na naman ito. And so far, I am enjoying every taping day,” Bea revealed.

Paired with Derek for the second time, Bea admitted she missed working with her And I Love You So leading man. Gretchen considers the project a dream come true. She has been vocal on how she wants to be teamed up with Derek.

In the series, Gelai (Bea) is the Queen of Divisoria. She is the blissful and selfless sister of the Queen of Philippine Fashion, Victoria (Gretchen). Rivalry erupts as they stumble upon each other.

They are contenders in many ways, even in love. Louie (Derek) is the man the sisters are eyeing. He will add spice to the competition between Gelai and Victoria as he also proves his skills as the URCC Champion. Also playing important roles are Enchong and Erich.

Enchong and Erich have proven their worth via Katorse and Tanging Yaman.

Also part of Magkaribal are Mark Gil, Robert Arevalo, Bianca Manalo, Nina Ricci Alagao and Arlene Muhlach.

The Nuel Naval and Mae Cruz masterpiece features a well-designed story and genuine situations viewers could relate to.
