GMA's Star Power

MANILA, Philippines - If the skies on Friday night, June 18, seemed to be dark, it must be because the Kapuso stars were at the Araneta Coliseum regaling an SRO crowd in a show aptly called GMA at 60: The Heart of Television which marked the network’s 60th anniversary. It will be aired on SNBO (Sunday Night Box Office) on Sunday night, June 27.

Presented were one dozen production numbers, each with a special theme that traced the network’s history and showcased its contribution to the industry, kicked off by a “musical account” of the network’s rise circa the ‘50s to be country’s “No. 1.”

Next came a “threatrical showdown” of the network’s past and present gag shows on its Kili-TV Block.

Then came the Telebabad and Sinenovela Block showing the prime-time top-rating tearjerkers.

The GMA News & Public Affairs department was represented by a musical number chronicling its “Walang kinikilingan, walang prinoprotektahan, serbisyong totoo lang” reportage in the past 50 years.

GMA has more than 60 reasons to celebrate.
