The truth about Brandon Vera
MANILA, Philippines - Brandon Vera, the 32-year-old mixed martial arts fighter from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), stars in a new TV commercial for Red Horse Beer.
The jujitsu expert, who also knows boxing, wrestling and Muay Thai is being paired with Isabelle Daza and Georgina Wilson in the newest Red Horse Beer commercial. The brand’s TVCs have been known to deliver extra strong impact on audiences owing to its top-caliber endorsers and astig themes.
Dubbed The Truth by friends and foreign media for his no nonsense way, Brandon is now officially the brand’s toughest and strongest endorser.
“It’s my first time to do a commercial here at home. I’m really excited about being with Red Horse Beer. I like the beer and what it stands for, ‘extra strong.’ I like the slogan, too (‘Ito ang Tama!’).”
Particularly the slogan, he admits because he has been known for kicking super hard. He has been described as one of the strongest kickers of all time. Discovery Channel has featured him for his extra strong kick.
Away from the glamorous lights of a modern soundstage, Brandon is a fierce and fearless athlete passionate about sports entertainment.
UFC is one of the most popular sporting events globally. Worldwide acceptance for the show is so big that it has been described as a potential competitor to high-stakes professional boxing, the domain of Brandon’s fellow San Miguel Brewery, Inc. endorser Manny Pacquiao.
Vera, who lost to Jon “Bones” Jones, had to have surgery on his face after being hit by a vicious elbow strike.
His Filipino heritage, he said, helped him cope with the temporary setback.
“Kahit stateside, my dad, when we were growing up would never ever complain when times were hard and the day wasn’t going right. Everybody in my family and all the Filipinos I met were the same way. There was no moaning. They just rolled with the punches and did what they had to do.”
He adds: “My parents raised me in a traditional Filipino household. Knowing about their heritage and their roots makes me proud to be Filipino. I enjoy letting people know who and what I am.”
