KC joins UN Program vs hunger

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – KC Concepcion has joined thousands around the globe in joining United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in a walk to raise awareness and money to feed hungry school children in the poorest countries on June 6.

Hunger and malnutrition are the biggest threats to global health worldwide. Every six seconds a child dies because of hunger and related causes. WFP and its major corporate partners — TNT, Unilever and DSM — have since joined hands to take action against this important issue by joining the Walk the World in the Philippines, believing everyone can help by taking this first step towards ending hunger.

Proceeds from the event will support about 70,000 school children in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao through the WFP’s Emergency Food-for-Education Programme. The WFP will use the P250 registration fee to provide one student daily nutritious school meals for a month.
