If there's a Will...

24/7 (DAY IN THE LIFE) - Bot and Don -

He aims for success and will stop at nothing to get it. But now that he is a moviestar, Will Devaughn could no longer bear the kind of pressure showbiz brings. All he wants is to free himself from the tight schedules that tie him down to work nonstop. Result: He goes on a road trip with friends to relax, unmindful of what will happen to his career.

But don’t judge Will too fast. That’s just the description of his role as Calvin Lopez in the indie titled Pendong, with Alwyn Uytingco and Felix Roco, showing on June 25 at SM Digital Cinemas.

Truth is, the part-Filipino, part-African, part-American and part-German is happy about his showbiz stature at the moment. Having been around for two and a half years since his PBB Celebrity Edition stint, he already knows the ins and outs of show business. That’s why you won’t hear him demanding a role from manager Dondon Monteverde. Will loves acting so much he doesn’t mind portraying characters in indie or mainstream movies.

“It’s not about indie or mainstream, it’s really the story that matters. You often see love stories in mainstream while with indies you have a different range of movies, where you can do almost anything you want,” Will says.

Pendong, he adds, is a break from the usual dramatic roles he plays on TV. “I love laughing and clowning around with my friends and people don’t see that on TV. That’s why on the first day of shooting, it’s hard for me to do it (comedy) because I wasn’t sure what people would find funny but on the second day I let go of my inhibitions.”

Besides, Will affirms, working with Felix and Alwyn is a breeze. They help each other scene after scene. Discovering their common interest in long boarding has also made them feel at ease with one another and “develop our friendship.”

Asked how he is similar or different from Calvin, Will replies, “Calvin is always irritated and stressed. I’m not that way. There are lots of things I need to learn. I’m happy where I am at the moment.”

Does he find time to relax? “I relax all day if I don’t have work.”

Read on how Will spends his day.

12 noon – I wake up late whenever there’s no work. Sometimes when I wake up, I walk naked in the house ha,ha,ha. That’s because I’m alone in my place, a condo in Ortigas. Masarap maglakad ng hubad e so I walk straight to the shower and then put on my boxers.

1 or 1:30 p.m. — I make myself something to eat. It’s either pancakes, cereals, oatmeal or egg sandwich or anything I can find in the fridge.

2:30 p.m. — Watch TV and if there’s nothing (interesting) on TV, I go back to my room check my Facebook and Twitter (accounts) and write a few messages for my friends in the US.

3 p.m. — Put on my gym clothes and walk to Gold’s Gym in Robinsons Galleria. I usually get a protein shake and hardboiled egg, take out the yolk for my protein before I work out for about an hour.

4:30 p.m. — Take a shower at the gym, go to the spa for 15 minutes.

5 p.m. — I’m hungry. I’ll have something to eat at Galleria. I never diet so I eat anything because I’m happy when I’m full.

5:30 p.m. — Go home. Check my Internet again. Text a few friends and if they’re not doing anything, I stop by their place. If they’re busy, I call my long boarding friends.

6:30 p.m. — We usually go to Westgate all the way in Parañaque with my long boarding friends or we go to The Fort. The last time we went long boarding, mga 15 kami, we started at 9 p.m. until 4 a.m.

4 a.m. — Go to a convenience store. Get Slurpees and siopao.

4:30 a.m. — Go back home. Take a shower, hop in the bed, check my Facebook and Twitter again before I sleep. — Bot Glorioso
