Carlo and Donna treasure their PMPC Star awards

MANILA, Philippines - Golden Lions couple Donna Villa and Carlo J. Caparas were chosen Darling of the Press and Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera at last Saturday night’s 26th Star Awards for Movies of the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC).

Donna has always been the darling of movie reporters way back when and the award is long overdue.

So when is an award a real award and a satisfying one?

Not in the eyes of the beholder but in the eyes of many?

The award usually generates a controversy but this time there was none. It is just as coveted as the other awards. Remember several years ago when a star shed tears in the middle of the ceremony when she failed to get it?

This year’s Darling of the Press is a mega-producer and multi-awarded as such. In her speech, Donna said that “kung ako ang Darling of the Press n’yo, kayong mga press naman ang sweethearts ko matagal na.” The remark drew a thunderous applause.

The other nominees were Angel Locsin, Mother Lily, Annabelle Rama, Dingdong Dantes and Quezon City Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista.

Everybody approved of Donna’s win. Not a whimper was heard. She’s a “darling” not only of the press but also of the showbiz industry.
