KC releases sophomore album

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - KC Concepcion has been regarded from the start of her career to be the kind of artist who knows what she wants and how to get it.

From her inimitable fashion sense and her much-talked about production numbers on TV and concerts, to the eclectic roles she chooses in the movies and the select endorsements and advocacies she takes on, KC is heading into one clear direction: The top.

No wonder her independent-mindedness has redounded to her music. In her sophomore disc titled KC under Sony Music, KC wrote three of the 12 tracks namely Magandang Umaga, Takip Silim and Worth That Wait which talk about the different phases of a love story.

KC produced with Jinno Mina the Hulog, Naantig Ako Sa ‘Yo, Girl Most Likely To and Tayo Na. The assumption of the responsibility belies her growing confidence not only on commanding center stage but also behind the scenes as she herself maps out a trajectory all her own.

KC is taking over the wheels slowly but surely; steering it to a path where even some of those who claim to be brave, dare not go. KC, after all, is an all-original album — something even more established artists have shunned doing in these days.

Then again, Sony Music did not let its artist foray without enough support. The songwriters and producers who worked on KC are big names here and abroad. The list includes Marvin Querido, Jimmy Bondoc, Louie Ocampo, Toto Sorioso, Jimmy Antiporda, Ferdie Marquez and Jingle Buena. The carrier single, Not Like The Movies, is written by Jaye Muller and Ben Patton.

KC in her Platinum-selling debut album Aka Cassandra tried out a variety of musical genres. But in KC, she went for a singular pop sound having found her niche, her real voice. Listeners will know this by spinning through the rest on the tracklist namely Di Bale Na, Breathe You, It’s Been Awhile and After The End.
