Sarah in love triangle

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - There’s a love triangle brewing on the set of TV series starring Sarah Geronimo. The rumor mill is busy churning out reports of Mark Bautista and Guji Lorenzana vying for Sarah’s attention. Both have been frequently spotted on the set, showering her with gifts or stealing Sarah away for coffee or tea. It seems like the two young men were enamored by Sarah’s singing prowess and are doing everything to hit the right notes with her. Mark, after all, may be trying to win Sarah back and rekindle their love team of not-so-long-ago. Guji, on the other hand, is new in the playing field and may have to work doubly hard to win Sarah’s heart.

Grilled about what seems to be a blossoming romance with another one on the side, Sarah simply smiled and candidly denied the rumors. “Ay, hindi po totoo,” (Oh, it’s not true),” says she, referring to the romantic advances of the two. “Actually, hindi naman talaga ako yung pinagtatalunan nina Mark at Guji, kundi yung character ko sa Sunsilk’s Hair is Your Moment.”

While on-screen the three characters are tangled in a love triangle of sorts, Sarah is quick to add with a laugh, “Off-screen, magkakaibigan po kaming lahat.”

In the series, presented weekly by ABS-CBN and Sunsilk, the popular rockstar Paco Figueroa (Mark) happens to be the longtime crush of Jenny Reymundo (Sarah), an enterprising restaurant owner, while concert producer Jason Abad (Guji) is evidently enamored with his latest talent discovery.

Following the story, Mark has an obvious edge over Guji since he and Sarah have earlier been romantically linked with each other. The two were both winners in the singing competition Star of the Night with Mark as runner-up. The young singer from Cagayan de Oro has since become busy with concert performances, recording and product endorsements, as well as the movies.

As for Guji, a relative newcomer in the local showbiz scene, he evidently has all the makings of a matinee idol. A member of Star Magic Batch 16, he already has scored a recording. Having earlier auditioned for American Idol in 2003, the Fil-Am talent took to heart popular Idol judge Simon Cowell’s comment on his having the potential to be a recording artist. Three years later, in 2006, he opted to trace his Filipino roots and in the process gave local showbiz a try. He joined Star Magic and was introduced in A.S.A.P. in 2008 along with other members of Star Magic’s Batch 16.

“We’re excited with this microserye,” says Jem Perez, brand manager for Sunsilk, Unilever Philippines, “because it’s the first time that a microserye is being done where viewers influence the direction of the story. We’re particularly excited to see how the story ends and who between rockstar Paco and concert producer Jason will be Jenny’s choice — everything is in the viewer’s hands,” adds Jem. The clamor is so great that fans are now rooting for their own “Mr. Right” for Jenny.
