The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Harry Shum Jr. is one face you may recognize from Glee which is being shown locally on Jack TV. Created and produced by Ryan Murphy, the brains behind Nip/Tuck, Glee focuses on McKinley High School Spanish teacher, Mr. Schuster (Matthew Morrison) who hopes to restore the glee club to its former glory.

In Glee, Harry plays Mike Chang, a football player who agrees to join the club even though it may alienate him from the rest of the student body. Working long hours in order to perfect song and dance numbers as well as tape regular scenes, the show definitely keeps Harry and the rest of the cast busy. Ask Harry and he will tell you that it’s all worth it.

Catch Harry and the rest of the cast of Glee every Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Jack TV. Starting tomorrow, April 14, catch all-new episodes of Glee close to US airing telecast at 4 p.m. on Jack TV.

Below are excerpts from Harry’s interview:

What’s the best thing about being a part of Glee?

Everything. This has been a dream come true. To be with the cast members and guest stars. I think there’s nothing bad I can say about being a part of Glee.

How long does it take you and the rest of the cast to learn a song and dance number?

Well, it used to be three weeks and then now it’s like a week but sometimes it’s a couple of days. So it really varies on how much time we have before we have to shoot.

What has been the most challenging aspect for you in filming the show?

Two things. Time, because we don’t have enough of it and we wish we had more. Then second, just having a personal life as we spend so much time on set and when we go home we just sleep and once we wake up we go back. I’m really thankful to be able to work, but it’s hard not being able to hang out with friends outside of the cast.
