Peque's protegé gets two acting nominations
MANILA, Philippines - Having only done one major film and playing the lead role in Peque Gallaga’s Agaton and Mindy (produced for the Cine Direks Festival last year), newcomer Chase Vega certainly got the film critics’ attention.
“I really saw the great potential in Chase the very first time we auditioned him,” Peque related.
The Stages talent is officially nominated in two major award-giving bodies. For the 26th PMPC Star Awards he is nominated for New Movie Actor of the Year along with Enchong Dee (Paano Ko Sasabihin), Zyrus Desamparado (Engkwentro), Romalito Mallari (Dinig Sana Kita) and Joey Paras (Last Supper No. 3).
Chase was also nominated for the same film for the Seventh Golden Screen Awards for Breakthrough Performance by an Actor along with Zyrus (Engkwentro), Daniel Medrana (Engkwentro) and Romelito (Dinig Sana Kita).
“ I learned about the Golden Screen Awards nomination through Facebook.
Someone congratulated me on my wall. At first I was shocked. Just to make sure it wasn’t a joke, I googled and found that I was indeed nominated for both awards. I couldn’t believe it. I called my friends and family and told them the good news,” beamed Chase.
The 26th PMPC Star Awards for Movies 2010, also dubbed as Tatlong Dekada ng PMPC sa Pelikulang Pilipino, will be held at the Ateneo de Manila University at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater on April 24 while the Golden Screen Awards of the Entertainment Press Society (EnPress), Inc. is on May 5 at Teatrino in Greenhills.
