Fun & laughter with Kimmy Dora on the beach
BORACAY , Philippines – Kimmy Dora will make you laugh again and again, no matter how many times you watch it. Everyone who viewed its outdoor screening recently in this island known for its powdery white sand and crystal clear beach had a hearty laugh whenever Eugene Domingo appeared on a wide screen put up at Obama Bar & Grill’s beach front courtesy of Cinema One headed by Ronald Arguelles. She plays the dual role Kimmy and Dora, twins who are total opposites. No wonder the Cinema Evaluation Board gave an A-rating to this Piolo Pascual-produced indie comedy under Spring Films.
Soon, Kimmy Dora will hit the silver screen again but it’s not certain yet if it will be shown in September or as entry to the Metro Manila Filmfest in December.
“But meeting and planning will start in May and definitely it is not a sequel but a prequel where we will shoot some scenes in Korea because the twins will be tracing their (Go Dong Hei) roots there,” Eugene shared during the special screening attended by Kapamilya stars Zanjoe Marudo, Luis Manzano, Maegan Young, Gretchen Fullido, PBB’s Sam Pinto and Paul Jake Castillo and Brazilian-Japanese Fabio Ide. John Lapus hosted the event.
New adventures, more action and more fashion (she’ll wear a two-piece in KD3), Eugene added, are also in the drawing board as Kimmy and Dora shift to more hilarious and complicated situations while running the Go Dong Hei group of companies.
Will Dingdong Dantes remain as the apple of the twins’ eyes?
“I’m not sure but I heard Sam Milby will enter the picture because he’s also a good comedian and ‘game din s’ya,” she replied. “And an international star is as just as good (addition),” she quipped.
A one minute 3D is Eugene’s wish for the film’s follow-up, but Piolo and director Joyce Bernal has second thoughts about it.
“Of course, I’m just joking. Piolo countered that joke by asking for my other requests while direk Joyce said she will ask James Cameron to come,” revealed Eugene.
Seriously, though, she felt goosebumps upon learning that she was nominated as Best Actress category in three award-giving bodies: The Enpress, Urian and Star Awards. Her comic and witty antics in Kimmy Dora gave Eugene a chance to prove her worth as an actress. That’s why, she’s grateful to Piolo for supporting and trusting her with the project.
“If ever I win, I’ll give the trophy to Piolo as a gift. He is not only good-looking but so generous and supportive.”
Is she like Kimmy and Dora?
Eugene replies, “I’m very much like Dora most of the time, pa hug-hug lang and I always play with my dog.”
Kimmy Dora’s outdoor screening and beach party in Boracay airs tomorrow, March 28, 8 p.m. on Cinema One.
