Highest overnight rating for Diva

-

MANILA, Philippines - GMA 7’s first kantaserye, Diva, the story of an ugly girl with a golden voice (played by Regine Velasquez) is keeping televiewers’ eyes glued to their sets every night after The Last Prince. Diva posted the highest overnight rating of 30.2 percent last Tuesday, March 17 and continues to beat competition.

Making Diva more endearing are the songs performed in the show. They are close to Filipinos’ hearts. Pinoys love to sing, especially familiar tunes, like the ones Regine performs in the series.

Televiewers also look forward to seeing their music idols or showbiz celebrities who guest in Diva. Two of them who appeared in cameo roles are Ogie Alcasid and Moymoy Palaboy.

Besides the well-loved songs, Diva presents good moral lessons televiewers can learn from. One of them is not judging a person by the way he or she looks. Sampaguita (Regine) may not be the best looker in town, but she’s beautiful inside. She’s a good friend and daughter.

Another lesson is empathy, or the golden rule. Do unto others what you want others to do unto you. Because Elvis (Buboy Garovillo) is a good father, Sampaguita will do anything, even give up her passion for singing, for him. Lady (Rufa Mae Quinto), on the other hand, loves to put Sampaguita down. So Sampaguita, unable to take it anymore, lets the cat out of the bag. She announces that Lady has a ghost singer who does all the work for her.

Diva also stars Gloria Diaz, Jaya, Mark Anthony Fernandez, TJ Trinidad, Chinggoy Alonso, Mark Herras, Glaiza de Castro and others.
