Tour reintroduces Backstreet Boys

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Backstreet Boys need no introduction, but their latest world concert tour, This is Us, is expected to reintroduce the boys to their old fans and tell emerging ones who they are, where they have been, and where they are headed. On Feb. 27 at the Araneta Coliseum, the boy band will be back in Manila to perform its fresh sound and hits blended in seamless harmony.

The group was formed in 1993 and named after a flea market in Orlando, Florida. The group of young talented Americans released its first album in 1995, made waves in the European charts, and earned the Best Newcomers title from the UK Smash Hit Awards. They went on to reap more success in Canada after the hit song I’ll Never Break Your Heart took the rest of Europe by storm.

America took a while before it fully embraced the boys’ vocally harmonious pop/R&B style. Songs such as All I Have to Give and As Long as You Love Me reached platinum sales from the eponymous album that sold about 14 million copies in America alone. The group’s first seven songs went on to land in the Top 10 of the US Billboard Charts.

Thus far, the Grammy award-winning boy band has sold more than 130 million albums worldwide. That makes them one of the biggest selling pop groups of all time

Backstreet Boys fans will definitely love the upbeat melodies and smooth harmonies of new songs such as Bye Bye Love, Straight Through My Heart, She’s a Dream, among others. Expect these tunes along with the old hits to get the crowd grooving on Feb. 27 at the Big Dome, a fitting segue to the sports and entertainment landmark’s 50th anniversary celebration in March.
