Marcelino Libanan sings with the Angelos
MANILA, Philippines - Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan and his band and the Angelos (composed of George Tagle, Miguel Aguila, Paolo Libiran and Louie Abaigar) will have a back-to-back post-Valentine concert on Feb. 22 at the NBC Tent at The Fort in Taguig City.
Billed as Capture Your Hearts, the show is produced by Newsmakers and directed by Al Quinn. Guest performers are Pinky Marquez, Ivy Violan, Merjohn Lgaya, Michael Young, Kris Gonzalez who will provide the opening number, Fame Flores and D’Dreamgirls. The Angelos will perform with the 60-piece MMC Community Orchestra conducted by Josefino Chino Toledo.
Libanan started playing the guitar at a very early age, and now in spite of his busy schedule as immigration commissioner, and congressman before that, he always found time to appear as special guest in several musical concerts, especially fundraisers. Recently, he was the lone guitarist in the Miss Earth beauty pageant held in Boracay.
In the show, Libanan will play classical and Latin music. “I will also sing one song,” he said. “It has been my tradition to sing just one song every time I appear in a concert. Besides, I focus more on the musical instrument — my guitar.” he explained.
He also said that he doesn’t get paid for performing in a show; he just wants to share his God-given talent especially for charitable causes.
Aside from playing the guitar, the commissioner also plays the bandoria.
He added that music heals. This shows in his good health and agility.
When he was campaigning for his candidacy as congressman, he serenaded prospective voters with his guitar and he won.
He wished that the proposed bill in Congress to update the old immigration law be promulgated soon.
