Juday to Jamby: Thanks but no thanks
In the 2004 elections, Jamby Madrigal ran for senator and lost. In 2007, she ran again and won, thanks largely to Judy “Juday” Ann Santos who endorsed and campaigned for her.
But in her tirade against Sen./Presidentiable Manny Villar for hiring stars (Dolphy, Sarah Geronimo et al) as endorsers, Sen. Jamby (who’s running for president) said she regretted having hired a star to endorse her. Is she being “ungrateful” to Juday?
Asked if she, too, regretted having endorsed Jamby, Juday said no.
“Kahit naman siguro papano,” Juday said during the presscon for Lactacyd, the feminine wash she’s endorsing, “ I was able to convince four or five people to vote for her in every province.”
Juday was being humble. I’m sure she was a big factor in putting Jamby in the Senate, winning for Jamby not only “five votes” but, who knows, five million votes!
“Sa sinabi niya,” Juday added, “hindi naman ako manhid para hindi masaktan. I think that she got my services because she actually believed in me; buong paniniwala ko sincere siya. I won’t take all the credit for her winning but it’s unfair for her to have said that. That’s her opinion and I don’t take it against her. All I can say is that edukada po akong tao. If I would say I regretted having endorsed her, para ko na ring sinira ang lahat ng produktong ini-endorso ko.”
Well said, Juday.
Now, does Juday think that Jamby will make a good president?
Another question, please!
In an interview with STAR reporter Pia Lee-Brago, Jamby said that her statement was “twisted” by her rivals to fuel the issue between her and Juday and that her decision not to rely on showbiz stars to endorse her was not a personal attack against Juday. “I will forever be grateful to her,” she added.
Meanwhile, Juday confirmed that in early April she’s leaving ahead of husband Ryan Agoncillo for their three-week holiday abroad where they plan to start on their joint project without any distraction — their first baby, that is.
At the moment, she said she’s undergoing a “work up” which should help her conceive. No need for any medical help because, according to Juday, she and Ryan are both “fertile.” They will also celebrate their first wedding anniversary in early May abroad.
As soon as they are back, Juday will resume shooting Hating Kapatid, her first starrer with Sarah Geronimo for Star Cinema/Viva Films and finalize a cooking show and Ryan his Talentadong Pinoy hosting job on TV5 and, according to the grapevine, a Sunday showbiz talkshow.
Has Carlene gotten married?
Is Carlene Aguilar now legally Mrs. Yo Ocampo?
“Yes,” said Ronald Carballo who is with Carlene in Oslo, Norway for the Worldwide Mr. Gay 2010 contest in which David Bosley, chosen in October last year, is representing the Philippines.
“Carlene is one of the nine international judges,” added Ronald who is the director of the Mr. Gay World-Philippines pageant; he’s in Oslo to observe the international counterpart preparatory to the Worldwide Mr. Gay pageant 2011 which will be held at the NBC Tent. “We left last Feb. 10. Inihatid si Carlene ng pagka-guwapong-guwapong Chinese-looking guy who turned out to be Yo Ocampo. When I asked Carlene if he’s her boyfriend, she said, ‘Hindi ko siya boyfriend, asawa ko siya; kasal na kami pero secret lang’. She said it casually.”
Carlene has a love son, two-year-old Calix, by her former boyfriend Dennis Trillo.
Also in Ronald and Carlene’s company is Michael Santos, lead singer of Escabeche band, who will serenade the Worldwide Mr. Gay candidates with the song For Once in My Life.
The Worldwide Mr. Gay finals were held Feb. 13. Ronald has no word yet who won.
