Huwaran book launch

MANILA, Philippines - Coco Martin (photo) recently graced the launch of Huwaran/Hulmahan Atbp., a book written by his late friend and mentor, Johven Velasco. Published posthumously by UP Press, the book contains essays on Martin, Jaclyn Jose, the late Rico Yan, National Artist Fernando Poe Jr., and Susan Roces (who appears on the cover).

During the well-attended book launch, held during Velasco’s death anniversary, Martin recalled how Velasco was delighted to have trained him in one acting workshop, “because I reminded him of his idol, Susan Roces.” Martin also described Velasco as “my truest friend in this world, the one I could always turn to, and wherever I may be now, I can still feel his presence.”
