Ellen now host American Idol

MANILA, Philippines - American Idol returns – on Q Channel 11, of course! – for a brand new season with a brand new judge and a returning favorite!

Popular, Emmy-winning host Ellen Degeneres (photo) will be sitting at the judges’ desk this season, joining regular judges Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi, and Simon Cowell. Ellen replaced Paula Abdul. This is also the season that marks the return of “Idol Gives Back,” AI’s concert-cum-fundraiser that features some of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

AI’s 9th season kicks off with a 2-hour episode featuring some of the funniest and most memorable auditions across the USA. Guest judges during the auditions include Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Avril Lavigne, Joe Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris and Kristin Chenoweth.
