Paraluman's 2 'first times'

- Danny Dolor -

The movies Paraluman (1941, X-Otic Films) and Sinag sa Kalbario (1950, Sampaguita Pictures) marked two ’first times’ in Paraluman’s career.

For the first time, she used the screen name Paraluman in the movie also titled Paraluman, opposite Fernando Poe Sr. (father of FPJ), who gave her that moniker. She used to be known as Mina de Gracia. Offcam, Paraluman is Sigrid Von Giese, American-German mestiza.

In Sinag sa Kalbario, Paraluman was paired for the first time with Pancho Magalona. Her post-war leading men include Rogelio dela Rosa, Fred Montilla, Ric Rodrigo, Leopoldo Salcedo and Oscar Moreno.   — RKC
