Is Regine really quitting S.O.P.?

BREAKING NEWS: Could it be true that Regine Velasquez is seriously thinking of quitting as co-host of the GMA noontime show S.O.P. which has been subtitled Fully Charged after a much-needed reformatting?

“She’s not happy with the show anymore,” said Funfare’s Kapuso DPA. “Basta, hindi na siya masaya.”

It’s not sure yet when Regine will disappear from the show. Who knows, tomorrow could be...knock on wood...her farewell appearance. Be alert for whatever “announcement” Regine will make on S.O.P. tomorrow. Or she might opt to simply keep mum.

First reported to be quitting the show was Jolina Magdangal who was doing it in sympathy with her manager, Perry Lansigan, who cut his ties with S.O.P. after 18 years as executive producer.

In last Sunday’s Conversations with Ricky Lo, Dolphy said that he was not saying which presidentiable he’s supporting in 2010 to avoid hurting anybody, all the candidates being his friends.

Already, however, Dolphy has raised the hand of Nacionalista Party standard bearer Sen. Manny Villar, along with avid Villar supporter Willie Revillame, during the party’s proclamation rally last Sunday at Macario Sakay Public Park in Moriones, Tondo. Also there was Billiard King Efren “Bata” Reyes. In the 2004 elections, Dolphy campaigned for FPJ.

In interviews with movie writers, Manny has been vocal about his being a Dolphy fan, that’s why he is pushing for the country’s unchallenged Comedy King to be proclaimed a National Artist.

“Like Dolphy,” Manny told movie writers during a lunch salu-salo at his Mandaluyong mansion the other day, “I was born and grew up in Tondo. We lived in the vicinity of Moriones St. and Sta. Maria St. but we never really met until years later when he was already a superstar and I, a politician. We would bumped into each other during socials. As a kid, I used to watch Dolphy’s movies in Katubusan Theater on Moriones St. (The same theater where Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, another Tondo Boy, also watched movies — RFL) That’s how I started being a Dolphy fan. I like his sense of humor and his comedic style.”

Also present during the salu-salo were Manny’s running-mate Sen. Loren Legarda, and NP senatoriables Gilbert Remulla, lawyer Gwendolyn Pimentel (daughter of Sen. Nene Pimentel and foremost musician Bing Pimentel) and Col. Ariel Querubin. Adel Tamano, another NP senatoriable, was sorely missed by the movie writers who love him dearly.

Miss World 2009 known tonight

The 2009 Miss World will be known tonight (Dec. 12 Manila Time) from a field of 112 candidates including 2009 Bb. Pilipinas-World Marie Ann Umali. The 59th edition of the pageant will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Special guest is former Miss World Priyanka Chopra who is now a Bollywood superstar.

Sorry, beauty-watchers, but the affair will not be aired in the Philippines.
