Laser Blaster at Star City

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - From avowed trekkies to avid followers of the clone wars, Star City presents a new family entertainment center for people of all ages, inspired by the two greatest sci-fi film series in contemporary time.

Lazer Blaster is a multi-level playing field that simulates combat and friendly fire amid a safe but visually stunning array of special effects lighting straight from the future.

Laser tag was first developed in the `80s as a result of the entry into the toys market of the Star Trek electronic phaser guns, inspired by tactical training employed by the US Army utilizing infrared beams. David Small and Paul Rago, both inventors for the toy development company Shoot the Moon, teamed up with manufacturers at Yes Entertainment to develop and license the first phaser guns.

Later, with photon effects seen in George Lucas’ Star Wars blasting through the public consciousness in over two decades, laser tag arenas mushroomed all over the world as a popular form of family-centered entertainment.

Lazer Blaster offers a fun game, best played with lots of friends. It is a team activity, with players suiting up either on the red or green teams. The teams enter the darkened, black-lit arena. Fog, music, and lighting effects all set the stage. The game begins, and players tag their opponents with blasts of green phaser beams. When you get zapped, you simply go back to your energy base, re-energize, and get back into battle. After the game ends, each player receives an individual scorecard showing the results of the action.

Unlike other combat arenas like paintball, nerf, or airsoft, Lazer Blaster has a lot of unique elements. The entire maze is themed like the deep jungle, so players get that Rambo feeling while moving through it. A computerized tracking system controls the hand-held targeting devices, with infrared-sensitive targets worn by each player and integrated within the area in which the game is played. A combination of interesting lighting effects, props, and theatrical painting make this an enjoyable and interactive arena.

Lazer Blaster also doubles up as a regular cardio fitness workout where you can never be bored. With something happening every second, you will keep moving your body, dodging opponents up and down the multi-level arena — keeping you both mentally and physically alert..
