PMPC New Female Recording Artist
MANILA, Philippines - GMA Records contract artist Maricris Garcia (photo) was named New Female Recording Artist of the Year in the First PMPC Star Awards for Music held last Oct. 29 at the SM North EDSA Sky Dome.
The 23-year-old diva was ecstatic to receive her first music award after winning Pinoy Pop Superstar title crown in 2007.
In 2008, she released her debut album under GMA Records titled Mahal Kita and was later introduced as one of the members of La Diva along with two other Pinoy Pop Superstar champs, Aicelle Santos (first runner-up for season two) and Jonalyn Viray (grand prize winner for season one). Incidentally, the group is currently gearing up for its first album under GMA Records and Sony Music Entertainment.
Maricris is the voice behind the theme song of the phenomenal primetime hit Marimar. Since then, she has been visible in GMA 7 programs and has had quite a number of concerts here and abroad.
