Battle for Terra at SM

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Take your family on an exciting journey to the corners of the universe as SM Digital Theaters exclusively present Battle for Terra 3D this month.

Everybody will have a chance to view the world like never before with 3D’s crystal clear images and stunning surround sound technology. Battle for Terra is now showing.

The movie, which runs for 85 minutes and is directed by Aristomenis Tsirbas is a must-see for all ages. It begins when the peaceful inhabitants of the beautiful planet Terra come under attack from the last surviving members of the humanity adrift in an aging spaceship. The stage is then set for an all-out war between the two races for the control of the planet.

But will unlikely friendship between Mala, a rebellious young Terrian (voiced by Evan Rachel Wood), and Jim, an injured human pilot (Luke Wilson) convince their leaders that war is not the answer?

Inhabitants of the Planet Terra, who live in the perfect harmony in gravity-defying cities above the clouds, are complete strangers to war. So when Terra is invaded by human beings fleeing civil war and environmental catastrophe, many of the Terrians at first welcome the invaders as gods.

Only the feisty Mala is skeptical, and fights back luring one of the invading space crafts to destruction after her father is abducted. She makes the extraordinary gesture of rescuing its pilot Jim, who in return for his life promises to help Mala find her father.

To do so, they must make a perilous journey to the Ark the humans’ aging mother ship, and along the way, they become aware of how much alike they are. But with the Earthforce army poised to invade Terra and render it uninhabitable, Mala and Jim must find a way to help the two races co-exist before it’s too late.

The Battle for Terra 3D combines today’s cutting edge technology with a rich, unique story. Director Tsirbas flips the alien-invaders genre by making us experience the invasion from the alien’s point of view. Producer Keith Calder says, “We thought that the reverse alien-invasion premise was strong. Visually, it was unlike anything we had seen before.
