Nick takes over more schools

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Nick Takes Over Your School has invaded school campuses in Metro Manila and slimed students all the way in Cagayan de Oro and Cebu. But the goo fest doesn’t stop there as it is all set to slime more students.

Nick Takes Over Your School is a nationwide program dedicated to promoting fun, sportsmanship, team spirit, and physical challenge among grade school students ranging from seven to 12 years of age. And since 2009 is SpongeBob SquarePants year, the invasion’s theme will be all about the yellow fellow’s optimism, playful attitude and enthusiasm.

In Metro Manila, students from Southville International School, Makati Hope Christian School, and St. Anthony School got their Nick on and had fun making mess after gooey mess. In Cagayan de Oro City, students of Corpus Christi School, Kong Hua School, and St. Mary’s had a grand slime-and-grime time with a string of Nickified games, plus a whole day of prizes and surprises. Not to be outdone were students of Sacred Heart School-Jesuit in Cebu City who also had a slime-packed, fun-filled day.

Nick Takes Over Your School Spellout brought in an Nick-citing activities and hilarious games. In keeping with SpongeBob SquarePants’ giddy gladness this year, students played games at the Happy Hub and formed crossword puzzles using only happy words, challenged themselves to “repair the happy square,” played SpongeBob SillyPants as they raced with SpongeBob’s pants on, balanced piles of krabby patties in the diner dash, and helped fill up Mr. Krabs’ cash register by clawing as many Bikini Bottom coins as they could. They also learned how to karate-chop the way SpongeBob and Sandy do, and even mastered their boating skills as they “sailed” across a very slimy lane.

Participants got special certificates and gift packs while winners got the cool-timate prize — slime! Those who didn’t get to participate in the games still got their Nick on, winning knick-knacks from the sponsors’ activity booths and trying their luck at Nickelodeon’s game booths, Rockstar, Yes You Are and Patrick’s Big-shot Sling-shot. In Slime Time segment, students got showered with slime every time they would answer a Nick trivia correctly. Because almost all the students got their hefty share of slime, they got button pins that confirmed them “Certified Nickheads.”

As the campus compass points back to Metro Manila this month, students of St. Paul College Quezon City, Immaculate Conception Academy, St. James College of Quezon City, San Beda College Alabang, Philippine Cultural High School and St. James College of Parañaque are all geared up because they know that it is not an ordinary occasion when Nickelodeon comes for the biggest slime invasion.
