Sensory-friendly movie for special children

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The SM Committee for Disability Affairs screened Disney’s animated movie Up for students from selected SPED schools in the country as the first-ever sensory movie to be screened in the country. The event was held at Cinema 3, The Block of SM North EDSA in partnership with the Autism Society Philippines and sponsored by Asus Philippines.

Inside the cinema, audiences were allowed to do anything (get up, dance, walk, shout or sing), lights were brought up, sound was turned down and no previews or advertisements interfered throughout the movie. Usual rules in SM Cinemas were not imposed to cater for this special audience. Through its SM Cares Program, SM formed the SM Committee on Disability Affairs that is part of the CSR Program of SM Prime Holdings, Inc. to actively oversee SM’s social causes which include concerns for the PWDs to live with their statement that SM is a mall for all and friendly to all people with disabilities.
