Paraluman: The other woman in Veronica

The Fil-German mestiza Paraluman (Sigrid Von Giese) is at home in vida-contravida, good girl-bad girl roles. She could be suffering wife and scheming mistress.

In the 1957 Sampaguita movie Veronica opposite Rogelio dela Rosa she is the other woman — but she is clueless that she was into forbidden love and ruining a hitherto happy family. Lolita Rodriguez is the wife.

Susana C. de Guzman and Danila L. Katindig collaborated on the story, made into a screenplay by Lina Flor Trinidad (of radio fame).

Paraluman won a Best Actress award from the FAMAS for Sino Ang Maysala? (1957). She made foreign films in the early ’50s, Sarawak and Elephant Girl.  — RKC
