Bianca wears what she likes

Although many have said that the clothes do not make the man, that darling of a TV host Bianca Gonzalez believes that looking good helps make a person feel great. This is the reason Bianca is conscious and careful of what she wears. Indeed, who doesn’t want to feel great most of the time?

One of two image models (the other is her friend, Mariel Rodriguez) of Meg Clothing who has her own clothing line with the brand, Bianca makes sure that what she wears, she likes.

“I think I have found my stride. There was a time though when I wasn’t sure of my fashion sense. I have my preferences, of course, but that’s not the only consideration when choosing clothes for people like me who are seen every day on television and at various functions.

“I’ve gone through my experimental stage — had my share of fashion boo-boos — but, fortunately, I learned from them and have moved on,” she says.

Bianca admits that she doesn’t sit down with the Meg designers to actually have her ideas sketched on paper. But she certainly gives the designers inputs on what she thinks would fit her, from the choice of fabric down to the shade of color.

It helps that she has become good friends with the owner of Meg Clothing. Bianca said that she can be honest in telling them what she thinks would work or not.  

Now, unless people think Bianca doesn’t have the credibility to have her own clothing line, think again: She was a former ramp model who, in her current job, has also picked the brains of stylists and fashion designers.

Bianca may not have a degree in fashion design, but her job won’t let her NOT be image-savvy.        

The TV host said that people could differentiate her designs from Mariel because hers (Bianca) are more practical and in-your-face because of her “sporty” personality.

“So, if people think that our names were just hitched to the brand just to capitalize on our so called ‘celebrity status,’ think again. Our clothes really bear our personalities,” she says.

Bianca advises shoppers to try on clothes even if they think they will look good on them at first look. As she puts it, you can’t compare yourself to a hanger! She also thinks people should be conscious of the occasion where they plan to wear the clothes.

If for a date, for instance, choose one that’s not too casual that it screams “I’m a slob!” nor clothes that are too flashy or sexy that pathetically say, “I’m so desperate to impress you” or worse, “Take me home — I won’t resist!” Bianca suggests a white polo and high-waisted pants.

Bianca believes that fashionistas are confident people. She said that the reason they are able to pull off wearing any kind of clothes is that they are comfortable in their own skin.

“People will notice — even if they don’t tell you — if you are confident of what you’re wearing or not. If you’re fidgety, it’s going to show.”

Women, Bianca says, should take advantage of the add-ons they are entitled to versus men. Bags, belts, earrings, make-up, etc. can and should push your fashion statement to the next level “as long as you don’t overdo it.”

Painting the youth’s future

More than a hundred painters from all over the country will join in a project dubbed Art for Youth’s Sake: Eksibit Para Sa Kabataan Ng Payatas today at the Congress Lobby, House of Representatives, QC.

Conceptualized and organized by Precious Hipolito Castelo, IBC-13 Expressbalita news anchor through the Helping Hands Foundation, the exhibit will help raise funds for the building of a day care center in Payatas, QC. Fifty-percent of the proceeds will go to the artists and the other half, to the foundation.

“We would like to bring hope to poor families in Payatas. The fight against poverty can be won through education and it can start in Payatas through arts,” says Precious.

Works of the following artists such as Angel Cacnio, Arturo Luz, Bencab, Ed Castrillo Lamaroza, Elmer Borlongan, Fabian dela Rosa, Federico Alcuaz, Fernando Amorsolo, Gus Albor, John Santos III, Jose Joya, Juan Luna, Malang, Manny Garibay, Mark Justiniani, Ramon Orlina, Tam Austria and Soler Santos will be up for sale.
